A Central Park Wedding

Our ceremony will take place at Summit Rock in Central Park. At more than 140 feet, Summit Rock is a massive bedrock outcrop and the highest natural elevation in Central Park.

Before the creation of Central Park, Summit Rock was a prominent feature in Seneca Village, the predominantly African-American community that existed in the West 80s from 1825 to 1857. The rock outcrop commanded views in all directions, including of Seneca Village and west to the Hudson River and beyond to the hills of New Jersey. You can still see the river though the corridor of 83rd Street. When Central Park was constructed, the elevation made it a natural place for designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to build a carriage and pedestrian overlook.

Summit Rock at Central Park

Our ceremony is taking place at Summit Rock in Central Park. Click <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/8w1pA11C1EPHAjRY9" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a> for directions. If you are taking the subway, you can use the B or C line and get off at the 81st St (Museum of National History) and enter the park there. Walk north along the green path shown on the map. If you are driving, you can either find street parking or use the <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/GqQJzasKDLKLeqma7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">parking garage</a> at the Museum of National History. Enter the park on 81st Street and walk north along the green path shown on the map. If you're taking an Uber or cab, have them drop you off on Central Park West and W 85th St. Enter the park on the W 85th Street entrance and walk south on the red path shown on the map. Summit Rock is located at the height of W 83rd Street.
